Big Girl Things

Bonnie is growing up so fast! Just in the last couple of weeks she has started to say all kinds of things. Here's a list of the words she's said recently:

  • Dog, Doggie & Daisy
  • Baby
  • Diaper
  • Mommy
  • Bye-bye
  • Red & Yellow
  • Belly

Her understanding is so amazing. She can make choices between different options by shaking her head yes and no, such as picking between grapes, oranges and bananas. We are constantly shocked by how much she understands and the complex instructions that she can follow!

We bought a little table and chairs at IKEA which she loves to sit at. She also really loves standing on the chair and dragging the table all over the house, so the number of meals served at the table are pretty much limited to breakfast.

We also bought a step stool so she can reach the sink in the bathroom downstairs and wash her hands after eating. She absolutely loves being able to wash her hands like a big girl and especially loves making funny faces at herself, which is just too funny. Bonnie also got a new big girl carseat a couple of weeks ago. She likes being able to see everything but napping is a little more uncomfortable.

Bonnie has proved herself quite helpful lately. She's helping put on clothes in the morning and even knows how to brush her hair! Last week she got ahold of the broom and insisted on carrying it around.

And then dragged around the mixer.

Reading continues to be one of Bonnie's favorite things to do. Her favorite books right now are Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and Moo, Baa, La La La. Another favorite is Toes, Ears and Nose, which she knows and can correctly point to all the body parts. We've run out of body parts in that book so we've had to move beyond the book. So far she's learned hair and cheeks. She also really enjoys grabbing a book and "reading" it while sitting it her chair. It's really cute!

Somewhere Bonnie and I picked up a nasty cold last weekend. She got her first ever non-immunization related fever this week. When we picked her up from school on Monday her teacher said she had a fever of 99.6. By that night it was 101.6. Other than a runny nose you wouldn't know she wasn't feeling well because she's been running, laughing and eating like normal so I figured it wasn't much to worry about. The fever finally broke this morning so off to work and school we go tomorrow!
