Weekend in Austin

We descended on Austin last weekend for a short trip to see the Kostusiaks and meet our newest nephew, Evan.

Matt tried his hand at holding Evan but as you can tell Evan wasn't too happy with Uncle Matt's attempts.

Aunt Lydia gave it a shot and was no better.

On Sunday we went to Austin Botanical Gardens. Not much to see but it was nice to get outside and enjoy the nice weather.

Evan had a great time!

Dave had to go to work Monday so Matt, I, Sarah and the kids packed up and headed to the Capital of Texas Zoo. Sarah had never been there so none of us knew what to expect. We got lost on the way so it ended up taking twice as long to get there. Once we got close I was sure we were in the wrong place because of the plethora of run down trailers, dirt roads, and cows. To be honest it sort of felt like the beginning of a really terrible horror film.

This is where the signs for the "zoo" took us. Pretty sketchy even for Texas.

Figuring we had gone so far to find this place we stayed. Surprisingly it ended up being a pretty cool place with a wide variety of animals. Unka Att, according to Connor, was volunteered as his personal carrier of choice while at the zoo.

There was a small petting zoo. We tried to get Connor to pet the baby goat but this was about as close as he would get.

I love this picture!

We were so amazed at how much Connor has grown since the last time we saw him, which was in June! He's talking and running now and is becoming a real toddler. Evan is such a well behaved baby who just loves to smile all the time so it was a lot of fun trying to get him to smile!
