Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

Feliz Navidad

This year we decided to skip town for Christmas and head south of the border to Mazatlan. It was our first time to Mexico and with their recent "challenges" we were a little unsure of what to expect, but found lovely beaches and a super relaxing vacation.

We found a beautiful condo to rent located in a golf and beach resort. Our condo was right on the beach, which is the only way to go! This is the view from the patio. The weather was really nice most days. When the sun was hidden by clouds and the wind was blowing it was rather chilly but most of the time we had beautiful blue skies and highs in the 80's.

We spent a lot of time at the amazing pool. It was heated and felt wonderful after spending any amount of time in the frigid ocean. It had an infinity edge, which we thought was super cool.

Perhaps the best part of our vacation was the fact that we basically had the whole complex as well as the beach/ocean to ourselves. Most days we just sat outside and read our books with no noise except the ocean waves - it was magnificent!

The shrimping business is apparently a big deal in Mazatlan so we were excited to see a real shrimping boat. By the way the shrimp were delicious!

We didn't see a lot of wildlife but one day walking along the beach we saw several starfish.

And lots of birds including these pelicans.

But by far the best thing we experienced in Mazatlan were the amazing sunsets. Every night it was like the sky was giving us a free show.

It was a little weird being in a warm climate in December but it was a nice change of pace. I don't know if we will make Mexico our annual Christmas tradition but we had a really relaxing time!
