Poor Bonnie caught some kind of virus at some point in the last week. Thursday morning when we were getting her ready for school she coughed a couple of times but it didn't seem too bad. That afternoon her teacher said that she had been coughing all day and especially during nap time which prohibited her from taking a good nap. That night was a long night because she had a hard time falling asleep and then was up from 12 to 3. Her cough had gotten much worse and was a very deep dry cough with a lot of wheezing. I stayed home with her on Friday because we were both exhausted from the night before and I was pretty worried about her wheezing. We were so lucky to get an appointment with her pediatrician who diagnosed her with bronchiolitis. It's apparently caused by a virus, usually RSV, that causes the bronchioles to be inflamed and the airways to get smaller. Her doctor said she had a mild case and predicted she would recover well in a couple of days.
She didn't have a fever or any signs of a cold but on Friday she was a bit on the cranky side, especially after her visit to the doctor's office.
Friday night was another long night. It was made longer since I brought her in bed with us and she proceeded to kick, punch and scratch both of us all night. She definitely was feeling much better on Saturday and was nearly back to her old self.
Saturday night she actually got some good sleep and slept in until 9:30am! Today we were just dealing with a runny nose but her cough was almost gone. She hasn't had any more wheezing so I think she's definitely on the mend!
