We've been debating for several months whether or not to enroll Bonnie in a Montessori program. Finally after one of Bonnie's friends at daycare left for a Montessori we decided to take the leap and look into it. We toured a highly rated and reviewed Montessori school in Broomfield and fell in love with it. The school is beautiful and the staff is so professional. We put Bonnie on the waiting list the next day and they told us it would be a few months before they had an opening. I finally got a call last week that there was an opening and Bonnie had been accepted to start in February.
She starts the transition week on February 18th. It's a 4 day transition. The first day we go with her for a half hour tour and introduction to her teachers and her room. The second day she goes by herself for 2 hours. The third day she goes by herself and stays until after lunch. And finally on Friday she stays until after nap time. We met with Bonnie's teacher Monday morning and were really impressed with her. She is highly educated and really passionate about teaching and the Montessori way.
We've been trying to get Bonnie used to the idea of going to a new school and she seems to be ok with it. I'm definitely more nervous about the move than she is! Although we haven't been totally happy with the daycare, she has been there since she was 11 weeks old. It's hard to leave the comfort of familiarity but it's time to move on. Hopefully this will turn out to be a great choice!
