Erie Harvest Fest

On Saturday we went to the 1st annual Harvest Fest in Erie - it was marketed as Erie's version of Oktoberfest. Our real estate agent, Paula, told us about this event so we thought we would check out what kind of production our new town can put on.

The fest was set up in one of the parks in Erie. There were lots of local businesses and stations set up for kids but not so much beer.
We saw tigers
and bears, oh my!

The appeal of the day was the tractor pull competition. Neither of us had ever been to such an event so we decided to check it out. We learned a lot such as there exists an association called the Colorado Garden Tractor Pullers Association - who knew!?!?

Matt patiently (but not enthusiastically) awaiting the beginning of the competition.

This is what each tractor had to pull. I still don't really understand the "competition" part of this sport or the skill involved.

I took video of 2 competitors but I couldn't upload the video. Let me sum it all up for you - a guy got on a tractor and drove until the wheels on the tractor stopped turning. All in all it was about 30 seconds. That was it. Needless to say, this event was a "once you've seen it, you've seen it and no need to see it again" type of event.

We did find out on Wednesday that the house was appraised for $400 more than we paid for it. The appraiser also said that the house has 100 more sq feet than we originally thought so all in all it was a good appraisal!
