This Isn't Judge Judy

Yesterday was Matt's first time representing a client in court. A partner at the firm gave him one of her client's case which was scheduled for small claims court. It wasn't a huge case but it has been a good experience for him.

Last week we went to check out small claims court since neither one of us had ever been before. Right before the judge came out the deputy sheriff explained to everyone that "this isn't Judge Judy" and "it isn't like Night Court either." Too bad because that would have been awesome!

Small claims court is pretty laid back compared to criminal court. The judge we saw that night was somewhat friendly, as far as judge's go. He allowed Matt to ask some procedural questions about what to expect when he was there for the real thing. He also basically told us we had seen enough and should go home - I said he was somewhat friendly!

Matt's case was rescheduled for a couple of weeks from now so we'll have to wait and see if he can pull out his first win!
