Couvade Syndrome

What is Couvade Syndrome you may be asking yourself? Well, it doesn't have anything to do with me or the baby but in fact has everything to do with Matt. Couvade Syndrome, also known as sympathetic pregnancy, is a condition in which a man experiences some of the same symptoms and behavior of the expectant mother. Some researchers estimate the percentage of expectant fathers who suffer from Couvade Syndrome to be upwards of 65%-80%. Anthropologists have studied this syndrome and have found it in all cultures, both ancient and modern.

It has become increasingly obvious over the past couple of weeks that Matt may be one of the unlucky men to have sympathetic pregnancy symptoms. Here are some of the symptoms Matt has been experiencing:

Headaches
Mood Swings (worse than usual)
Leg Cramps
Increased Appetite
Weight Gain
Vomiting (only in the mouth but still counts)
Backaches

Unfortunately, there is no cure for Couvade Symptom except for birth. Hopefully his symptoms don't get much worse. I can't really imagine having two pregnant people in one house for the next 5 months!
