Our first stop was in Atlanta to visit Matt's parents. His brother, Ben, was also in town. It was the first time Ben has met Bonnie and after a slow start they had a great time together.
After we left Atlanta we headed straight to Hilton Head Island, SC to meet up with Grandma Linda and Aunt Carol and Aunt Annie. After we got settled in we hit up the pool. Bonnie didn't have any problems or worries in the pool and seemed to have a lot of fun. She kept trying to "swim" by kicking her legs and moving her hands in a doggie paddle motion. We bought her a float which she thought was much cooler to play with on solid ground than in the pool but she tolerated it like a champ.
On Tuesday we packed up all of our gear and headed to the beach. As you can see below Bonnie was very excited about her first experience in the ocean and the beach!
We were really careful not to scare her with the ocean and wanted to slowly introduce her to the waves but she insisted on walking right into the ocean. We took her into the ocean and did some wave riding which she thought was pretty fun. However, we tried again on Wednesday and Thursday and it wasn't as fun.
Sometime during our trip Bonnie's second tooth broke through. I was in denial that it was happening since the first tooth was a nightmare but this tooth was a breeze. She had a couple of nights that she didn't sleep well but it was nothing compared to her first tooth. You can kind of see her second bottom tooth in this picture.
Mommy and Daddy enacted the "Grandma's Turn to Babysit" clause and we enjoyed some big waves in the ocean. While we were gone Bonnie enjoyed eating lots of sand and learning how to do the crab walk.
This trip was really a whole of first for Bonnie but perhaps her favorite was her first taste of blueberry pancakes. She really couldn't get enough!
On our last day we decided to explore the island and found some really interesting sites, like a lighthouse, lots of boats and an alligator! Bonnie even got to try a little bit of peach ice cream for the first time which as you can imagine she loved.
We had a really great time but learned that vacation isn't quite as relaxing with a baby as it was before a baby!
