The boys were so excited to see Bonnie when we woke up the next day. The weather was so nasty for the first few days so it was the best decision to drive straight through. Dave got the fireplace up and going and the kids insisted on roasting marshmallows, even though we tried to explain it wouldn't work so well with the gas fireplace!
The day before Thanksgiving we drove to Waco to meet up with my cousin Lisa and her new baby, Tanner. The kids were moderately behaved throughout lunch. Bonnie loves babies so she thought Tanner was really cool. After lunch we took the kids to a history museum at Baylor University. There was a nice children's area, which helped burn off some stored energy they all had.
It just wouldn't be any fun it there wasn't a full blown tantrum!
The weather finally started to warm up on Thanksgiving so the kids were eager to play outside. There were plenty of tears to be had by all but they ended up having a great time.
Connor and Bonnie were playing outside when Connor ran inside and asked for a piece of paper. We asked him what he needed it for and he said he was going to keep track of all the times Bonnie was good and bad. About an hour later he came back inside with his list, which he had now added a section for "funee." It was hilarious! Obviously from his account Bonnie was pretty bad outside. I asked him what Bonnie did that was funny and he said she threw dirt at the dogs. That would've gotten a bad check on my list but I guess it was funny to a 5 year old!
I got to spend some quality time getting to know Maddi. She is such a sweet girl! We had a great time reading books and giving lots of tickles.
Bonnie had periods of extreme crankiness while we were in Texas. I don't know if it was a combination of a change in schedule, the extra kids around or the two new teeth she got in. She was a little calmer in the hotel on the way home but got so frustrated she couldn't put ALL of her shirts on at once.
We took the scenic route home driving through the middle of Texas and up through the Oklahoma panhandle and through Colorado. We drove through a lot of small towns and saw an amazing amount of windmills.
Bonnie was an amazing traveler. The only times she got cranky was when it was time for lunch or dinner. Her good behavior definitely made the drive easier on me. We had a good time but were really ready to be home!
