Sarah and the boys came up Monday and spent the night with me. It was nice to get to see them so soon after our last visit. If we keep up these frequent visits the boys might actually begin to recognize me!
What is the one thing you have to do in Dallas? That's right - go check out the conspiracy theorists hanging out at the Grassy Knoll. Wednesday after training some co-workers and I walked to Dealey Plaza and were immediately met by this gentleman. He gave us the low down on the conspiracy and even escorted us across the street.
The Grassy Knoll and the fence where the fatal shot came from (yes I buy into the whole conspiracy thing!)
The Book Depository is the building on the left. Oswald was in the upper right hand window. A shot from there totally makes sense for the first shots but definitely not for a shot that would force your head back and to the left.
Plaque in front of the Book Depository. There is a museum on the 6th floor where there is a large collection of pictures and videos of that fateful day in 1963. The only thing that I learned was that the doctor who attended to JFK in the hospital burned his medical notes because they "had blood on them". Sounds sketchy to me.
The X in the street is the location of the fatal shot. I checked it out and it's a straight shot from the fence. Just sayin'....
As we were wondering around the Knoll doing our own investigation a man who had been hanging around asked us if we wanted to experience the "true experience." Of course we said yes. Here he is trying to get Will to see the "red and white building" through the gaps in the moving train. No clue what the red and white building was and Will never saw it. Danielle smartly took herself out of the whole look for the building thing pretty early on.
After our last day of training on Friday Danielle, Will, and I stopped by this herd of bulls across the street from the federal building we were having our training. Apparently this is pretty high up on the list for things to see in Dallas - go figure!
We searched around trying to find a sign that prohibited climbing the bulls but as you can see we didn't find such a sign.
Matt and the dogs survived the week which makes me feel better about my many upcoming trainings this year. Apparently I have a two week long training in Washington DC this summer, another week long training this summer, and finally a week long training at the end of the year (hopefully in Denver this time!). Looks like it's going to be a pretty busy year!
