The Nursery - A Work in Progress

We've been working the past few weeks on getting the nursery furnished and set up. Some of it has been easy and enjoyable and other parts of it have literally been painful and exhausting. We had the idea of putting up wainscoting, which at the time was a seemingly brilliant idea. Well, I can attest that although the end result turned out looking really great, putting up wainscoting is a lot easier said than done.

Here is the before.
Perhaps the easiest part of the whole nursery was the painting, which we finally decided on a silvery grey color. We started on this wall with the wainscoting and believe it or not it went quite quickly and successfully. We even cut out the outlet on the first try!

This was the third wall we conquered and was definitely our worst. We had a window to contend with, which took Matt the better part of a day to finish.

It was pretty amazing what a transformation it was to add some caulk and paint to the wainscoting. The next challenge we faced was adding the chair rail, which we mistakenly thought would be the easier part of the whole project. Part of the problem was that I refused to buy Matt a chop saw so he had to use an adjustable table saw to cut the proper angle. As you can imagine, this was more difficult than previously expected. The corner in the picture was by far the worst. I stopped counting how many times Matt walked up and down the stairs between the nursery and the basement trying to get the cut just right. If I had to guess it was somewhere around 20 times!

Once we got the walls finished it was time to start assembling. Here is Matt putting together the crib. It actually wasn't too difficult and took about 1 1/2 hours.

Daisy of course had to test out the new crib.

We found this awesome bouncing chair at the new IKEA that opened up this week. It matches perfectly and we are really happy we braved the 100 degree weather and massive crowds to find it!

It is still a work in progress but I had to post some pictures to appease my mom!
