Only Baby Knows

Since we didn't find out the sex of the baby and don't plan to, there has been a lot of speculation on both sides as to what the sex will be. I figured it would be appropriate to turn to some old wive's tales on gender prediction to see if they give any insight.

Heart Rate: If the baby's heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy.
Prediction: Girl

Cravings: If you crave salty foods, it's a boy, but if you crave sweets or fruit it's a girl.
Prediction: Girl

Ring Test: Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your belly. If it's a boy the ring swings back and forth and if it's a girl it swings in a circle.
Prediction: Boy

Wrist Test: Hold your wedding ring over your wrist. If it swings back and forth it's a boy but it moves in a circle it's a girl.
Prediction: Girl

Shape of Mom's Face: When your face gets fuller and rounder, it means you're having a girl. If your face is long and narrow, it's a boy.
Prediction: Girl

Mayan Tale: The Mayan tale states that you add the age of the mother at conception and the year of conception. If the result is an even number then it's a girl and if it's an odd number it's a boy.
Prediction: Boy

Skin under Left Eye: If you see a "V" in the white part of your eye when you pull down the skin, you're having a girl.
Prediction: Girl

Dreams: If you dream you are having a boy, you will have a girl and vice versa.
Prediction: Boy or Girl - first dream of a boy and later dreams of a girl

Side you Most Rest On: If you prefer to lay on your left side you're having a boy and on your right side a girl.
Prediction: I prefer my right side (for the first time ever!) but baby won't let that happen. Girl

Dad's Weight Gain: If the dad-to-be gains weight it's a girl.
Prediction: Girl

Morning Sickness: Little to no morning sickness means a boy.
Prediction: Do I even really need to say it?? Girl

Colder Feet: Colder feet means a boy.
Prediction: Girl

Baby Names: If you can only think of a specific name for a boy or a girl, you will have that particular baby.
Prediction: Girl

Headaches: An increase in headaches means a boy.
Prediction: This one is hard since headaches are a side effect of the Zofran but I'll give it to the boy.

Legs: If your legs are getting bigger it's a boy, but if they stay the same, it's a girl.
Prediction: Girl

Hands: If your hands are dry, you're having a boy; soft - it's a girl.
Prediction: The outside of my hands are dry but inside is incredibly soft. Boy or Girl

Chinese Gender Chart: Some say girl and some say boy. It's a toss up!
