Thought for the Day

I had a thought this morning about what would happen if Baby was born on exactly the second Daylight Savings Time ended this year. Here's the scenario:

Daylight Savings Time ends at exactly 2:00am on November 6, 2011. During this "fall back" we actually relive 1:00am - 1:59am two times. Therefore if Baby was born at 2:00am (the first one) it would actually be recorded as 1:00am (the second one). Although not an issue but imagine the scenario if twins were involved. One twin could be born at 1:30am and the second born 30 minutes later, which actually is 1:00am, thus making the second born baby actually the oldest, well at least on paper anyways.

Now that I've either intrigued you or lost you, think about when Daylight Savings Time starts in March. During this "spring forward" we actually lose 2:00am - 2:59am and skip from 1:59am directly to 3:00am. So, if a baby was born at 2:00am when Daylight Savings Time starts, it's actually born at 3:00am. Therefore there are no babies born between 2:00am - 2:59am in places that observe Daylight Savings Time. Weird.
