Excited about Diapers

I know, kind of a weird thing to be saying. I mean who is excited about diapers? I've been doing a lot of research over the last few months about which diapers would be best for Baby. As you can imagine, there is a ton of information out there about each brand. Apparently diapers have come a long way over the years because there is a whole lot more to choose from than just cloth and Pampers. After wading through all the positives and negatives I think we've unofficially officially decided on g diapers.

These diapers are considered a hybrid diaper since they mesh the best things about disposable and cloth diapers into one eco-friendly diaper. These diapers look a lot like cloth diapers from the outside since they come with reusable outer pants but the inserts are what make these really exciting. The inserts are actually made of biodegradable material that can either be flushed down the toilet, composted, or thrown away. The upside is there is no reason to feel bad for throwing them away since they contain no plastic and it only takes a couple of months for the inserts to biodegrade opposed to regular disposable diapers which take 500+ years to biodegrade. The inserts also come in cloth form so if we decide that we want to try cloth diapers it should be an easy transition.

I bought a beginners bundle pack from http://diapers.com/ (thanks Uncle John!) which contains everything we need to get started for the first month.

It comes with 80 biodegradable inserts

12 "tiny" pants to be used with newborns. They have a nifty button down feature on the front to account for the umbilical cord.

And 6 small size pants in an assortment of colors.
This awesome video shows the decomposition rates of a biodegradable g diaper insert as compared to the traditional plastic diaper. If you want to learn more about g diapers, check out their website at http://www.gdiapers.com/. (I totally sound like I'm an advertisement for g diapers but I swear I'm not getting paid!)
