Hail No

Saturday night was downright scary here in Northern Colorado. About 5:30 we left the house to grab some dinner and we weren't even out of the neighborhood before it started raining and the clouds weren't looking so good. I even asked Matt to look around to see if he saw any tornados. By the time we got to our destination, which is about 2 miles from the house, it was pouring. As soon as we parked it started hailing so Matt suggested we pull under the awning at the bank next to the restaurant. It's a good thing we did because the hail storm lasted another 5 minutes or so. It wasn't huge hail but most pieces were dime sized. On top of that was torrential rain and extremely high winds. It felt a lot like a tornado and was pretty scary. There were at least two times that we were under that awning that I started planning our escape. We even got Bonnie out of her car seat in case we needed to take cover out of the car. Finally after 30 minutes the storm passed and we were able to examine the carnage left behind in its wake. There were flooded streets, huge boulders that had been pushed in the street, tree limbs and leaves everywhere and power was out in places. It wasn't until we got home that it really sank in what just happened.

Yep that's part of our fence...on the ground clearly not where it belongs. I guess the wind was so strong it just ripped the fence off.

Yep that's our deck. Not only did the wind move the sofa it actually tipped it over. My poor flowers that were on the deck are completely ruined. Between the wind, rain and hail they never had a chance.

This is what was left of the hail on the deck. After the storm ended it looked like it had snowed! Even today the rug on the deck is damp and there are little bits of flowers and leaves all over the place. The pear and maple trees got hit pretty hard along with my peonies which look horrid. Thank goodness it wasn't a tornado but it was sure close to one.

In other news, Bonnie is really growing up fast. We bought her a trike a few weeks ago and she absolutely loves it and insists on taking a ride on it everyday when we get home from work/school.

I think Bonnie is the silliest little girl that has ever existed. She loves to make us laugh and does a very good job at it. She's really gotten into playing dress-up lately too.

I don't think there has been much more biting at school and actually she and Eamon have come to some agreement and are best buds now. I guess sometimes you just have to stand your ground!
