Matt's First Day

Matt's first day at work was yesterday! It was a pretty boring day because it was mostly paperwork and orientation stuff. They already had a lot of projects waiting for him so today he got working on them. It's only been 2 days but already he's a real time lawyer because I asked about what case he was working on and he said "I'm not allowed to talk about it." I decided that I probably didn't want to know anyways because we are working on opposite sides of the employment discrimination team.

The dogs were not happy when Matt left for work. They have gotten very used to us both being home all day. Daisy screamed for at least 5 minutes as Matt was trying to leave! This is Daisy yesterday afternoon looking especially baby-like while staring out the window waiting for Matt to come home.

A big boy now!

Today while Matt was at work I went to the house to get the results from the inspection. Overall, there wasn't a whole lot wrong other than some minor cosmetic stuff. The only thing that came back somewhat negative was the radon reading. The USA says a reading of 4 is the highest it should be and the reading came back 5.1. It's not dangerously high or unsafe but we are going to ask that the sellers fix the problem so we don't have to deal with it later on.

Today we got the Title documents in the mail and as you can tell from this picture it was quite a package!

Matt being the lawyer that he is took it upon himself to read through this massive stack of papers. He found out that our neighborhood was bought in 1902 by Union Pacific Railroad for $225 who sold it to be developed in 2000. I imagine they made A LOT more than $225 off of that sale! Matt also found out that apparently we don't own the rights to any minerals or oil found on our property and also don't own the air space above the land. Pretty much we own some grass and a little bit of soil, which happens to have radon in it - oh well it's better than what we've got right now. We also got all of our HOA rules and according to them we can't raise livestock in the backyard which pretty much ruins our plan to raise money in order to pay the mortgage!
