Busy Baby

Grandma Linda and Great Grandma Ellie came to visit Bonnie over Memorial Day weekend. Bonnie had fun showing off all of her news skills and even learned a few new ones during their visit.

Knowing how much Grandma Linda enjoys reading it was no surprise that she brought one my favorites as a kid to read to Bonnie.

Bonnie has mastered crawling on the carpet but wasn't quite as confident on the hardwood floors. Finally on Thursday she ventured onto the hardwood floors and pretty soon she had mastered hardwood floors too. She insisted on making an obstacle course out of the table, chairs and her highchair which proved entertaining for all of us! Eventually she made it over to the sliding glass door leading to the deck where Zoe was outside. She tried to get to Zoe which resulted in her banging her head against the glass repeatedly but never quite understood why she couldn't get outside.

Speaking of Zoe, Bonnie has been borderline obsessed with both dogs lately. Daisy and Zoe have actually been paying more attention to her and have even been known to give her kisses every once and awhile.

Amazingly, Bonnie has started pulling herself up to both a kneeling and a standing position. Even more amazing than that is last night she started "cruising" along the furniture. Tonight she made it across half of the couch! I would be pretty surprised if she wasn't walking by 9 months the way she is going.

This week was also the first time we tried transitioning Bonnie into her crib at night. We figured she was ready to move into her "big girl" bed because for about the last week she had been thrashing about at night and couldn't seem to get comfortable in bed with us. On Tuesday we gave it a shot and to our surprise she slept right through the night without a peep. I even had to wake her for breakfast the next morning. The next night we thought for sure the previous night's success had just been an anomaly but low and behold she slept right through Wednesday night. She's managed to sleep every night since Tuesday with no problem. Although Bonnie has gotten some good sleep this week Matt and I can't say the same as we've been intently listening to the baby monitor all night and waking at even the slightest sound. That first night I went and checked on her more times than I can remember. Luckily, I think we are all starting to get used to the new arrangement.
