Exploring

Today we decided to go out and explore some areas of Colorado we haven't had the chance to explore yet. First we went to a nearby town, Arvada, which we are thinking about moving to in September. It's southwest of Longmont and it about 20 min. drive to Denver. It has a really cute downtown that we walked around and we also drove around some of the neighborhoods and found a lot of houses that we liked but would never be able to afford. After we had driven around and were thoroughly discouraged, Matt suggested we check out the small town of Morrison, home of Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

It was a long and winding road to the Amphitheatre, but well worth it in the end. We sat in the stands and used Matt's Blackberry to look up some upcoming concerts because we have decided you're not a real Coloradoan until you've been to a concert at Red Rocks. Matt wants to see the Allman Brothers in September but I want to see Journey (the greatest band of all time) and Heart in July. Only time will tell who wins that battle!

View from the stage looking up at the seating. It's a pretty steep climb back up all those stairs!

Here I am doing a face-melting air guitar solo for the crowd!
After we left Morrison and were on our way home, I made a suggestion that we should go up Lookout Mountain Road in Golden and see Buffalo Bill's grave site. It's one of those places that you always see the signs for it but never go to it. Matt vocally expressed his disinterest in going to Buffalo Bill's grave site but because I was driving we went. Lookout Mountain Rd. is a narrow winding mountain road to the extreme. Matt is very afraid of heights and thinks that if he leans his body away from the side of the car up against the ledge we will be safe from crashing off the side into a certain death.

Now we can say we've done some "stuff" in Colorado. Tomorrow, weather permitting, we are headed off to the Boulder Creek Festival to get down to our hippie/yuppie roots!
