Matt's Graduation

Well, it's official. Matt's a law school graduate!! We started the day off with presents. Matt really wanted a Blackberry but we weren't up for an upgrade on our phones until October. On Tuesday I went to the Verizon store and managed to work out a deal so that I could get Matt a Blackberry now. The only catch was that the Blackberry was activated on Tuesday and his old phone was deactivated. It took some finagling to hide the fact that his phone wasn't working but it was all worth it.

Matt's parents got him a really nice briefcase.
And a diploma frame that even says "School of Law" on it.
Ben got Matt a baseball glove, which he has wanted for years. The graduation ceremony was at Mackey Auditorium on the University of Colorado campus. The inside was quite magnificent. We had awesome seats too!
Here's Matt waiting for all the graduates to file in. Our seats were amazingly on the same row that he was. Matt got a special recognition for being a candidate for The Order of the Coif, a prestigious honor society for law students who are in the top 10% of their class (Matt was #9 out of 168 students).
Former Colorado Governor Romer was the speaker. He gave some great advice to the graduates! I kept thinking I was listening to a Social Worker because he talked a lot about recognizing that your point of view is formed by your background and that people different from you see the world through a different set of "rose colored lenses." He also told the graduates to be aware of their ego (so appropriate for a room full of lawyers!) He got a little political but that's to be expected from a politician. Waiting in line to get hooded. Getting hooded. Waiting to walk across the stage and get his diploma. He actually got his real diploma, which I thought was very cool!
