House A-Huntin'

Our first week of house hunting was:

exhausting
frustrating
exciting
scary
confusing
stressful

Over the past week we've gone to see 18 houses and 4 of those we went to see two times! It's completely true that after awhile they start to blur together and it becomes really hard to distinguish houses from each other. We've been able to pick a city we like, which took a considerable amount of time, and a neighborhood we love, which wasn't even officially decided until yesterday, and 2 houses that we really like. It's becoming really hard to choose between the two houses because there are things we like and dislike about each house.

Tomorrow we meet with the mortgage lender to get pre-approved for a loan. We've really been feeling lost during the past week and just doing what we've been told by our realtor. Hopefully we will get the official go ahead on a loan by Wednesday and can think about putting in an offer on our first house by the end of the week or the beginning of next week!

On the job front...I got my official offer from the Department of Labor Friday morning after a couple days of confusion over where the job was actually located. It seems the Dept. made a clerical mistake (imagine that!) and offered me a position in Dallas which would be quite a commute from Denver! It all got figured out and my start date is Sept. 14th which gives me a couple more weeks to relax and do some serious clothes shopping.
